MATTHEW

Vacation was nice, thanks for asking. More on that tomorrow.

Came home to find out that our neighbors who are the sweetest little couple you could ever imagine, had their baby on Thursday night named Matthew.

Due to a blood infection, Matthew's having a real tough time right now.

At one point on Saturday, he was given 30 minutes to live. He made it through that but still has a rough road ahead of him and if he lives, will be spending his first 4-6 weeks in the hospital.

The doctors are worried about kidney damage mostly, but also brain damage. They're doing an EKG on his brain today to find out just how bad off he may be.

Yesterday afternoon, they were told that the next 48 hours are critical.

The parents are holding up well considering the circumstances. After you're told you're about to lose your baby in 30 minutes and he manages to hold on, I guess you have nothing but hope and faith at that point.

I know I make a lot of fun here on this site in order to entertain you mongrels ... but in real life, the guy behind "Uncle Bob" has an incredibly soft spot in his heart for children who face life from a disadvantage as well as the parents whose lives become forever changed as they have to adjust to a new life as the parents of a disadvantaged child.

I would just like to ask all of you who believe in prayer to toss Matthew in there along with the daily prayers today.

This couple have experienced some incredible heartbreak in their quest to become parents.
