I have Moxi and I love it. Yes, it's no TiVO but its the next best thing. You think you're addicted to melatonin? Wait till you starting DVRing things. You can kiss your life goodbye. ha! ha!

My daughter has TIVO. I have DVR. Way better. She ca only record one program at a time. DVR will record 2. IF you stop recording a program on TIVO, it wipes out the whole program. DVR doesn't. You got the better deal. The only curse about DVR is that you WILL becomre addicted. We record about 10 shows a week.

Melatonin huh? I am having sleeping issues. Where do I get the stuff?

We got our DVR the other day. The first thing to be recorded? "The Office", of course. How awesome it is to be able to record two shows while watching something else you've already recorded? Ask your cable company if they will let you bring the old box in and swap it out. Installation is a cinch.

Is that through Charter? Cause they just told me $27 per month!

you can get melatonin at the grocery store or pharmacy. its not narcotic, so you can get it OTC. Its the same chemical in warm milk.

Take a second look at the DVR before you commit to it. I'm on a sattalite service almost did the same thing, until I found out the "dual channel, free install and free equiopment offer was for NEW customers Only.

Since i was just a shithead loyal customer of 5 years, I had to take the crappy single channel device (can't watch one show while watching another, had to pay for the equipment and other shit).

I politely explained to the Vice President of the company that if he was unwilling to provide me with the same offer he was giving others, I'd be more than happy to switch to Sattilite company B, who would do it for free. He was more than happy to keep me as a customer and not go to his compitiion. I got the dual channel, 100 hours, HDTV reciver with free installation. double check what you are getting, and ensure there are no other fees.

DVR!!! I'll bypass the numbers thing because DVR Rocks.... Medaicomm DVR rules... Tivo kills the program if you stop midway ? that bites. If you really wanna get crafty you can record the DVR stuff to a DVD or VCD on the computer, but that takes haxor skilz

First and foremost, congratulations on being so awesome, sir! That whole thing with the stealing meat and what not, you were taking me places. Also, "what the psychologists call sarcasm." You had me at hello.

I know why UB can't sleep at night. It's the guilt he feels from depriving us of PART 2 and the impending lawsuits he will be served due to our pain and suffering from being denied said Part 2. You have to have a clean conscience in order to sleep at night Bob. Just give us what we want and you will sleep just fine.

I can understand why you never got a Tivo as a kid if you were sending your "I've been a good lad, wot?" letters to Kris Kringle. In England the guy who delivers Tivos and other stuff is called "Father Christmas." You were sucking up to the wrong mythological figure. The post probably never forwarded your letters. Rotters.

Geez, cosmic, you just take the ginger right out of it, don't you? And Andy, it's "satellite." Stop wasting your money on TV and buy and dictionary.

Squeakzilla - 2005-12-08 12:42:37
Tivo does not delete the recording automatically if you cancel it midway. What it DOES do, that other DVR's can't, is allow you to schedule recordings remotely via the internet. TIVO cannot do the dual simultaneous recordings, but multiple TIVO boxes in a household can talk to each other and also any computers on your home network (think transfers). And, pardon my geekness, TIVO is LINUX based and extremely HAX0R friendly. Now that you have one DVR, you will eventually find yourself contemplating getting another.

Cosmic,,,you're such an amateur! 10 shows a week on your DVR? Us Canadians have PVR and you're nobody unless you're doing 20-30 shows per week. Us Canadians take our tv seriously! It beats the hell out of building igloos on the back 40! Ok...maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm hooked on my PVR just like UB is hooked on DRUGS! Well now UB, you can watch your PVR or TIVO or TIFO or Moxi or whateverthehellitis when you can't sleep you crackwhore you!

I don't know about Moxi, but I do know that the DVR I had is so much, so much better than Tivo. Tivo software sucks. It's not complicated, but they make it a lot more complicated than it needs to be. I fucking hate Tivo. The only reason we have Tivo is because they weren't offering DVR with DirecTV until recently. They just had the DirecTivo. And, did I mention that, I hate it!! The only thing that Tivo does that the Moxi may not do is "guess" which shows you might like to watch based on what you've been watching and record them for you. And Tivo Don't knoooow me. YOu end up erasing most of them, trying to figure out exactly what your Tivo thinks of you, and turn the option off anyway.

I live in Berkshire, England. Spoiled meats? In my house / hovel that's a special treat we can only afford at Christmas. We have to make do with rotten vegetables from the Lord of the Mannor's rubbish bin. You don't know you're born Uncle Bob, you posh bastard. And here in Berkshire we don't talk with a Cockney accent - that's for East Londoners - born within the sound of Bow bells. Here we speak pure yokel. Oooh ar!! And what be this TV you speak of?

All I know is that I cracked open the case on my Tivos and replaced the 40 Gig hard drives with 120 Gig drives. You can't make a mod like that with a provider specific DVR. I also have BeyondTV which is a PC based DVR app. user installed upgrades and mods RULE!

onyxpurr - 2005-12-09 14:16:55
There is no way hubby and I could live without DVR now. We record the following religiously: The Office; Lost; The Apprentice; My Name is Earl. Not to mention some other unmentionable movies that hubby buys. *wink, wink*
