At least you won't have to look back in 15 years and say to Susie "well, I guess when you think about it, he did give us signs ..."

LOL, you are the best way to start the day. You always get me laughing. And a reminder why I don't send my kids to daycare.

I'm a preschool teacher and we have a LOT of boys who kiss and hug on the other boys. Just give it time, he'll eventually figure out the right gender to hug and kiss, they (almost) always do.

I teach 8th graders, and while they don't kiss each other, the boys are constantly touching and grabbing one another...so it'll be awhile before he grows out of that one.

That's what you get for feeding him Princess cereal.

Dammit Shannon, you beat me to the punch on that one. nice work.

That's what you get for taking him to a Wiggles show.

Perhaps you have been cuddling Andrew too much yourself or maybe, just maybe, this Darryl kid is sending the wrong signals. Even though misdirected, I think it's cool (albeit embarrassing) that little Andrew is "ready to get his smooch on". By the time he successfully targets little girls, he'll be slipping them tongue and everything!

I have to ask Paula Preschool Teacher - what is the "right" gender to hug and kiss?

It's all the TV programming... watching Drawn Together and Brokeback Barney with your son is sure to make him the next Clay aiken

Hold a Barbie in one hand and a football in the other, and hold your breath.

Kids at that age don't know gender yet. Besides, I would rather hear that he is hugging anyone than beating someone to a pulp. Don't worry. Be Happy.

Aw, it's kind of cute, kids before cultural socialization takes place. Just goes to show you boys can be just as naturally affectionate as girls, we just teach them not to be. Not to worry, soon Andrew will be too ashamed to even cry and you'll have an all-american boy on your hands.

emopirate - 2006-02-12 01:39:09
eh, kids grow out of it usualy, i remember getting in trouble at daycare for the same thing hehehe. and i agree with an earlier comment, atleast he's showin someone love, not beating them up at random.

Most "closeters" we're the big bullies in school- everyone should all take part in the excitment that little andrew does indeed know how to express his feelings towards others at such a young age without confusion- so when he gets older and is ready to show the feelings towards girls- it will come easy.

alison - 2006-02-24 11:15:47
Why does everyone assume he's going to grow up and into little girls? If he likes boys, so be it, and more power for him for being confident enough to go for it.
