Well, the dream could've been worse. You could've dreamt you were making out with the Average Joe...right? Right???

Hey, I read your diary all the time. You are one of the funniest I have ever read, and definitely my favorite. So I was wondering... how did that "Bear in the Big Blue House" show go? You went already, right?

Uncle Bob - 2003-12-09 08:14:37
"Bear" isn't until January. I'm sure Andrew will have a full review of it on the site.

The hubby and I were pretty disappointed with the outcome of Average Joe too. So much so that I don't know if we're going to bother to watch the next one. The new chick came off as a real bitch in the promos, the new crop of guys don't seem to be as attractive as the last, and it looks like there are even more male models choose from next time around. Not a lot of material for suspense there.

I also was very disappointed with the Average Joe finale. I almost stopped watching a couple weeks ago when they brought the male model types in, but I was hooked and I thought for sure she was not going to pick one of them. What was she thinking? Millionaire, kind, giving, good kisser compared to student, waiter, living w/parents, good kisser. She picked the wrong guy!!!!! I think there were some things that we must not have seen because I could not believe her choice! If I didn't have to work, I would've loved to see her interviewed on The Today Show this morning.

The sad thing about Bonefish Grill? Those WERE the size of their portions. Their food is so bland, and their menu is on an 8 x 10 card. My fiance works for the company that owns them, so we get half off our meals, but i wouldn't go back if it was free. You did the right thing by booking it outta there!

Flashlightning - 2003-12-09 10:20:28
"Average Joe II" Outcome... she picks one of the models. I'll bet $50 on it now.

Amy - 2003-12-09 10:25:52
Dude, I'm so with your assessment of Average Joe. I did a rant on my site one day about how they couldn't do a show like that in reverse (with a guy picking from plain or average women) and that it's only because it's a woman picking from plain or average men that makes the show's premise work. But then stupid Melena went and shot everything to hell by picking that brat Jason! Stupid pom pon shaking chick. Adam is 100 times too good for her anyways. Go Adam!

Flashlightning - 2003-12-09 10:35:37
One more point... Examine the situation. You have a pretty boy from the west coast, that doesn't amount to anything... then you have an average guy from the east coast who is very successful in life... both the same age. Am I the only one that finds this a little TOO coincidental? And the girl actually fooled me with her act of being someone that can really look beyond looks. Her true level of intelligence was shown when she choose dumb sex for a week over a truly happy and prosperous life.

amandabean - 2003-12-09 12:33:59
I don't watch TV. But last night, while I was fixing a friend's computer, Average Joe came on, and I stayed until the ending. It completely struck me as crazy that she picked someone who purposely tried to get her drunk to 'loosen her up', someone who has the personality of a pet rock, over Adam - someone who genuinely cared about her. I hated that you could just SEE the heartbreak on his face... that really just pissed me off. And then he was a nice enough guy to congratulate said Pet Rock - best of all - and watch them make out while he was on the bus. I hope this guy finds someone who will really treat him well and will help him lead a long and prosperous life.

amandabean - 2003-12-09 12:37:09
AND the show itself - they showed previews of the next AJ, too. I cannot believe how morally wrong this show is - how the next girl badmouthed every guy that stepped off that bus, how shallow and ignorant these women come off. What does this show teach people? a) that it's fun to break hearts and b) that I know I can get a spot on an 'Average Jane' show.

Cruel-Irony - 2003-12-09 13:05:21
Melena is an idiot. At first, I felt bad for Adam, but then I realized that I was glad he was spared from any further idiocy on her part.
-------------------------------
U.B. - 2003-12-09 13:56:41
A gal here at work had a good point ... do you think Melena picked Jason because she wasn't ready for a commitment while it was clear that Adam was ready to get married and start production on the Baby Factory? Meanwhile, Jason still lived at home and had a long way to go before he could ease into "adult relationship" mode. Fear of commitment may have raised its ugly head and she went the Jason route. I saw them on the Today Show. Most surprising revelation ... they've only seen each other like 3 times since the show stopped production because they weren't allowed to be linked together in public.

Linda - 2003-12-09 14:04:06
I thought for sure Melena had decided on Adam because she said she had found "a diamond in the rough." Guess that was one of the scenes thrown in to make you think she had chosen Adam -- and I fell for it!!!! Adam's better off now; she showed her true shallow self. Hi Uncle Bob!!!! You'll still be our "average joe" even though you're rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, won't you?

I was fine up until the Ken Doll got off the 25 million dollar jet to shake hands with the poor Average Joe after he got dumped by Barbie. How incredibly smug. I would have re-arranged pretty-boys teeth. Average Joe, was after all, training, for like 23 weeks. He could have really kicked his ass.

ceridwen - 2003-12-09 14:14:39
hey, uncle bob. I too live in the city you live in. and I get to talk to the tv-movie guy every day ... just giving you a little stalkerishness to brighten your day. :)

Jen - 2003-12-09 14:25:04
Uncle Bob, I'm disapointed that you think people are so stupid as to not recogzine who you are talking about with the Civil Rights Icon who is suing Outkast. Either that or I'm old and live in the South. :::sigh::::

Suzanne - 2003-12-09 15:03:23
Maybe Uncle Bob just didn't want to put himself in a position to be sued by ROSA PARKS, because apparently no one is allowed to use her name. Thats right! I said it! ROSA PARKS ROSA PARKS ROSA PARKS

Um, people, as much as it would have been great for the average Joe to actually have been a good guy, he was positively HORRIBLE. I mean a "Pink Theme Day"? Gag me. Of course she was pretty horrible herself.

boardho - 2003-12-09 15:35:26
Any more of those millionaire type average Joe's out there?

Although I don't agree with Melena's choice, I think everyone is being a bit harsh. If there ever was an "Average Jane" show, I bet the guy would pick the hot chic over any Average Jane. In reality, an attractive girl will settle and fall in love with a not so handsome guy who is a good person and a good provider. A man will only settle when he finally realizes he is not the hot stud his mama told him he was. Men are much more shallow than women and will complain ad infinitum that the hot chic doesn't want them.

PLEASEpleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease find it in your stale, crusty, acerbic heart to skewer "Ryan and Trista's Wedding" in much the same way as you have defaced "Joe Average," or "Average Joe," or whatever in the hell that piece of dung is (was) called. My only hope is that Ryan, who seems like a halfway-decent guy, somehow comes to his senses and leaves manipulative, gold-digging Trista at the altar, much to America's frenetic glee.

Sorry Scotty ... I didn't watch the Bachelor or whatever that show is. I only watched Average Joe to see Kathy Griffin. Man, was I hoodwinked on that one ... she was on a total of about 90 seconds the entire season.

i liked the average joe finale. i laughed when she came across as a superficial whore (or was that just me thinking that...). was good for a laugh and more than a few thoughts that life imitates art.

I know you ain't thinkin about quittin', unclebob... You need to stick around, sir, just for the sake of my daily laugh requirements...

UB i'm glad someone pointed out that maybe the pretty girl just isnt' ready to be all suburban mom with minivan and 2.5 kids, that kinda life sucks, specially if your pretty and have just been on tv and obviously have some sort of opportunity knocking on your door there. I feel for average joe dude I do, but he seemed a bit smothering and clingy, pretty girls need space. Vacuous and vapid pretty boys always give lots of space and occasional good sex (believe it or not there's supposedly a study done on quality of sex that found pretty people had "better" sex Survival of the prettiest : the science of beauty / Nancy Etcoff.) Anyway I'm sure that if this show ends with her choosing pretty, next show will have her choose ugly, because that's how these things go, ooh look a "suprise ending". sorry for the rant uncle bob you're a great guy and your site rocks.
