OK. While I'm not gay, I would venture to say that old Barry is. I've never heard mention of a wife or a girlfriend but then again it's not like I have sought out a Biography on him or anything. *goes to do that*

I'm a huge Barry Manilow fan (whenever he's in San Diego, I buy tickets to every show, I've read his autobiography "Sweet Life", even met the man in one of the most humiliating episodes of my life, etc.), and he HAS been married (before his carreer took off) and has a couple of girlfriends (one of them gave him his Beagle dog [named Bagel]) who is actually probably dead by now. So... does that mean he's not gay? No. But he's straight in all my fantasies. And really, that's all that matters. ;-)

You're going to throw away a perfectly good vote over one lousy issue? Even if by some miracle Kucinich DID get in, do you really think Congress is going to allow him to legalize marijuana? Not that I don't agree with you that it SHOULD be legal, but I don't see our glorious representatives voting that far left, not if they have any intentions of being re-elected themselves.

From the DS5 FAQS page "Short of 'don't kill each other', TV's Survivor has no behavioral rules, and neither do we." The rules are, other than meeting the deadlines, there are no rules. The logo itself says "Outwhine" and that's what we set out to do in this IC. I'll tell you like I told Odalisk on the blog, if you think we're the only ones frustrated and bored beyond belief, you're sadly mistaken UB. Besides, Jon's little bitchfest of an IC has probably generated MORE talk about DS5 than it has had since the game started. Things aren't always as they seem. *grin*

Hee. "MAN-dy." That's awesome.

As far as mixed drinks with diet cola go, I've found that diet vanilla pepsi (or Coke I guess) and Malibu make a surprisingly non-crappy beverage. I've never tried Cap'n Morgan and diet cherry.

I know for a fact that 4 parterns at the law firm I work at have and do smoke pot. They are all 'upstanding' members of the community even though the reason I know they smoke pot is because they try and get hot secretaries high or drunk to get on them and cheat on their wives, then the secretaries tell me, but whatever. Upstanding.

Kucinich is an ass as a person. He's not a leader and he's so far to the left he has to have a driver in order to make right turns. On the other hand he is ruthless enough to completely mock and take advantage of those who've lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan and compare Bush to Hitler all in the same breath. As far as decriminalizing marijuana, if thats what you want to do, then by voting for Kucinich you are going about it the right way (trying to get people who support it elected to office) and I'll respect you for that, even while questioning your choice of candidates.

Jane - 2003-12-11 11:28:46
Wow, Scott just convinced me to vote for Kucinich. Manilow's totally gay. Come on.

Danelle - 2003-12-11 11:31:47
1)I read both Dairyland Survivor entries just now. If the other tribe wins, it's totally rigged. No doubt. 2)I just might register to vote to get your man elected. I'm sick of lurking around the middle school parking lot trying to score a twamp. 3)The only reason I smoke pot is so I can sleep. I have insomnia because of the uppers I take all day.

Cori - 2003-12-11 11:32:15
I agree that marijuana should be decriminalized (and I've never smoked anything), but Kucinich has even less of a chance than Sharpton. I wasted my vote last time and learned my lesson - I don't want that to happen again.

Cristina - 2003-12-11 11:33:32
If alcohol is legal, then why not pot indeed? When was the last time you heard about someone getting really stoned, beating on a wife or kid, or getting in a barfight and knifing someone then driving home and taking out a family of five? Yeah, not so much. Stoners stay home and order pizza delivery.

Carla - 2003-12-11 11:46:02
Mmmmmm. Pizza.

deborah - 2003-12-11 12:03:49
I'm for decriminalizing marijuana usage as they've done here in BC. However, while people should be able to grow their own for their own use, the large grow-ops (as they're called here) should be put out of business. And for what it's worth, I'm one person that voted no to any pot use. But that's misleading in a funny way. I was eight when I accidently ingested a pot brownie (the plates weren't labeled) and I'm sure I had a contact high more than once. But since I have never chosen to use pot, I voted no. By the way, the best thing to do with Captain Morgan Rum is put some into a Coke Slurpy. Yummm!

DeeJay - 2003-12-11 12:08:14
But have you tried Bacardi and Cherry 7up? No diet trash either! MMMMMMMMMMM Barcardi and Cherry 7, you tempt me with your sweetness and lack of alcohol flavor..

My biggest problem with DS5 is it's hard to follow. By that I mean it seems like a different person puts it in their diary every week or so. Personally, I would find it easier if one person had it all in their diary, or it everyone posted every update in their journal. At this point I feel I've missed too much to catch up or really even care. It was kinda funny at first, but then when new material didn't show up in your diary, I forgot about it. I saw the logo and all, but I though it was all over already.

awittykitty - 2003-12-11 12:30:54
I tried to follow D/Land Survivor, but there wasn't very much interesting material generated. I only read you and Gehngis. What I really wanted to see were close ups of poisonous snakes, luscious girls bathing each other under waterfalls, fistfights, and you and Genghis comparing your loincloth. Now that would have been interesting. (grin)

You forget, Barry the Hunka Hunka Manilow was engaged to Robin Byrd, aka Mrs. Hardwicke in 'Debbie Does Dallas'. Unless * gasps* that engagement was a publicity stunt. Damnit, first Michael and Lisa Marie, now this. Next youre gonna be telling me about Tom Cruise and Ricky Martin and

Marijuana should be decriminalized. Crying shame people lose there houses for growing it for their own use.

I get the feeling it's like how people walked on eggshells about Liberace's sexuality meanwhile with the sequined outfits and such it was obvious he was screaming to get out of the closet. I don't think "his brother George" really was his brother.

UB - this go round you are all wet and full of shit. Sorry dude. They haven't quit -- they are just stating how they feel. Much like you do in your diary every day.

speaking of the blank canvas winning an art contest, my art class just did an research thing where we had to make power point presentations on different painting periods. the neoplasticism had a painting called the black square. yep, it was a black canvas. thats it. nothing but black. and it was famous. i dont remember the artist. but it was famous. how gay is that?

Just thought i'd let you know that you should probally pay attention to other issues besides the marijuana thing. If you are liberal, you're better off voting for the democratic candidate.. chances are this guy doesn't know shit about shit, and is just hiding behind the 'legalize pot' issue.
-------------------------------
Uncle Bob - 2003-12-11 17:57:28
Kucinich IS a democrat, Alex.

Danelle - 2003-12-11 18:58:57
Ouch. heh. For the record, I hate Ask Andrew.

BooBoo - 2003-12-11 19:01:20
I agree, pot should be legal and taxed just like my beloved Jim Beam but I lived in Cleveland when dingo Dennis was mayor and the buzz aint worth putting this numbnuts in charge.
-------------------------------
jagent - 2003-12-11 19:38:05
duude that's hilarious... "you're better off voting for the democratic candidate" ladies gentleman, I think what our beloved Uncle is saying is that if we all got together and voted Kuicinich then he'd win, quit hiding behind this, he wont win shiznit and just vote for the man and get others to do the same, you will be suprised at how many people are in the same situation, oh no let's not vote he might not get elected, fuck the fact that if we all voted he'd sure as fuck get elected. Don't be scared, if this really is America and all she stands for then vote for whomever the fuck you want.

I dont agree with smoking pot personally, and while I dont think ten years in jail is right I do think mandatory rehab is a way to go. I'm voting Kuicinich cause he looks funny like Waldo from were's waldo?

sorry about the rant UncleBob, I'm pretty sure Andrew put one of those erase comments options on the comment section so you can just erase this little rant if you want.

Elaine - 2003-12-11 19:44:38
I'm still confused about Barry Manilow even after reading the comments. Can a man with a voice that low be gay?
-------------------------------
my vote is yes - 2003-12-11 23:24:17
Barry Manilow met his longtime buddy Bette Midler while she was singing in gay bathouses and he was playing piano. I hate being all judgemental, but usually in the 70s if you were in a gay bathouse for any reason, it meant you liked the penis. ;-) Barry's still a good friend of Bette's and they just released an album together honoring Rosemary Cloony's songs. Bette says he came up with the idea, by the way.

Lauren - 2003-12-12 01:08:01
Rock on with the marijuana stuff, Uncle Bob. I don't smoke any more, but if everyone I knew who smoked pot went to jail for it, I'd have no one to hang out with. Ever. As for Barry Manilow, I really do love his music. And I never gave much thought to him being gay, years back. But it does seem to me that all of the sudden he seems really, REALLY gay. My theory is that since Barry realizes his fan base has stuck with him this long, he's free to start showing us the flaming gay man he's always been, deep in his heart. I could be wrong.

Sue - 2003-12-13 02:02:14
Well, I'm watching Barry's Christmas special as I write this and yeah, I agree with that sudden changeover to seeming REALLY gay! It had just never occurred to me one way or another before - I've just always liked his music and shows - but wow! LOL! This Christmas special has him bouncing and swishing and camping it up all over the place! Its due to this special that I decided to look it up to see if anyone knows if he is or not.

vanessa - 2003-12-13 14:53:28
gee, if pot isnt so bad... WHY IS IT ILLEGAL??? could it be that EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG, and YOU'RE right? That HAS to be it.

i love corey feldman. yes, let us capture him and give him to me for christmas.

Bill - 2004-05-31 14:59:37
Hey Uncle Bob, Yes, Barry Manilow is gay. I have met him and his partner. He is just not open about it as the majority of his fans are still older women (who loved him when they were young in the 70's) who get all swoony over him at his concerts. Also, I just found this out myself (as I was a Manilow fan in the 70's) but MANDY is really about a dog, not a girl!! ;-) Hope that clarifies things for ya! Bill

I just sent ya' an email because I didn't see this comment thing. The Barry Manilow issue cracked me up because I had always wondered the same thing. Recently I started working for a guy that's a big-wig gay activist. The guy knows every gay celebrity on the planet and he told me, just tonite, that he's partied with Barry Manilow and that he's gay. Just thought I'd help solve the riddle. What the hell - I still like a lot of his songs.
-------------------------------
mike - 2006-02-01 17:08:19
so tell us (Guy) what other celebrities are gay
-------------------------------
deb - 2006-03-05 20:52:12
i've been a manilow fan for years. he was briefly married just before his career began taking off. he's dated several females, including Lorna Luft and his long-time girlfriend, Linda Allen. when asked in an interview, he said he was NOT gay. the interviewer said, "i hear you're really gay" and barry said, "definitely not." none of that proves whether or not he's gay, and whether or not he is, he's one helluva singer and live performer. at times he does seem gay, othertimes not. if he is, i wish he'd come on out; i'd love him as much and respect him even more. OH, and "Mandy" is NOT about a dog and not written by Barry; the author called it "Brandy" but since "Brandy (you're a fine girl" was popular at the same time, they (Clive Davis) renamed it "Mandy." OH, and Barry did NOT meet Bette in a gay bathhouse. She was playing in the bathhouses and needed a pianist and hired Barry. It was a gig (read his autobiography; he was very uptight and shocked at that time in his life!)
