YAY!! I'm first!! That sounds goddamned scary...I mean...that sounds scary and angering. I thought the people were just stupid--I didnt know that they only interview mentally handicapped.

Perhaps Ren is mentally handicapped for not recognizing satire. ANYWAY, that show's been out for a devestating number of years, and when I still lived in America and watched it, I could never decide whether I loved or hated it. I think 'Street Smarts' is the reason late night TV exists - it's something you couldn't watch in daylight, otherwise the horror of your life would cause you to implode.

"Street Smarts" is what you watch when you can't get your fix of classy television from "EXtreme Dating" or "The 5th Wheel." I'm a classy lady, and that's why -I- watch Maury Povich. You know you can't go wrong with: "I'm Back For the 7th Time To Find My Baby's Daddy!"

Is it wrong that I now have a burning desire to see this show? Thanks U.B.

That is why I love that show.

That show is based on a bit that Howard Stern used to do on his radio Show. He called it The Homeless Game, and the staff of the show would wager their own money on whether the interveiwees would know the answers.

Street Smarts is like the dumb hollyhood squares...and that's saying alot from a show where you often have to agree or disagree with a puppet.

"Street Smarts" is meant to be oxymoronic, I think. In any case, it's horrible. Now, "Blind Date"--that's entertainment, baby!!

Best Street Smarts Q/A ever - they asked a guy what George Washington Carver's middle name was - and he replied "Tyrone".

I *heart* this show. Sadly I'm usually up late enough to watch it. It reminds me that my fellow Americans are stupid, stupid crackwhores. Sigh, it's good to be an American ain't it?

I havent seen it but that crap always scares me. How the hell do you not know the answers to some of that stuff? Yikes. It makes me think of the trailer park lady they inevitably interview after some natural disaster equally scary.

Street Smarts has been on the air since 2000. I think they invent game shows like that to make us feel superior! Heh.

I liked your last entry, Alison. The first paragraph is about teenagers--to an extent at least. Surprise. I am a teenager. The show, true to your word, has been out many years and YES UB they DO look like crackheads, but NO I didn't know they only intervied mentally handicapped people and if I knew I wouldnt take up space saying something pointless. Perhaps Alison should have realized at least something before calling names.

Ren, daahrling! You REALLY need to take a chill pill. And I have only one thing to say about late night TV - "Thank the dear lord in heaven that I only ever watch that shit when I am on a night shift and that that hasn't happened in months".

onewetleg - 2004-05-07 01:03:55
the main reason i like that show is that it is the only thing on worth watching at that time of night. (i don't have cable) really, you need to watch a few more episodes and you will be hooked. it's latenight heroin, my friend. late night heroin.

alison - 2004-05-07 08:44:25
Ren, they don't interview mentally handicapped people. It was satire.

no, nonono, the BEST Q/A ever on that show, they were interviewing this dumb blonde chick who worked at a hot dog stand, and he asked her "What's a frankfurter" she had no clue at all. I mean, seriously, if we weren't in debt already i'd say, lets fund up this education shit.
