Congrats on the job. Although I'd be a little frightened to know that the guy installing my home security system thinks that a home theater system is the same thing as a home security system. But I guess the fine people of Kentucky know better.

Congrats again.

OMG! I just did the 'Find Your Spot' quiz, and Greenville, South Carolina was my no. 1 place too!!!!!!!!! Susie run away with me! (to Greenville). This quiz isn't sponsored by the Greenville Re-population Campaign is it?
-------------------------------
Kat - 2004-08-04 09:08:07
Greenville AND Chattanooga are funding this quiz - they landed the 2 and 3 spots on my list as well, and I'm a die-hard 'give me snow' northerner!
-------------------------------
Amy - 2004-08-04 09:19:50
My top spots were: Chattanooga, TN; Tulsa, OK; and Greenville, SC.
-------------------------------
mrscrumley - 2004-08-04 09:37:49
Well, I live in Chattanooga and it is an awesome place. But I wouldn't say the schools are great. It is beautiful, low crime rate, and full of nifty people (like me!).
-------------------------------
Jackie - 2004-08-04 09:47:55
My top four were: Carlisle, PA; Long Island, NY; Harrisburg, PA; and NYC, NY. I think this may actually be true then---this coming from a 'Jersey Girl' with a future fiance from Long Island-AND-I'll be moving to NYC in four weeks. Not bad...Congrats on the job! :-)

whyme63 - 2004-08-04 09:48:10
I didn't think much of Find Your Spot. The lifestyle questions didn't apply to me for the most part, and after indicating that I didn't like humidity, or anywhere I'd need Spanish, it gave me Gulf-Coast and Deep South locations in Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Kelly - 2004-08-04 09:55:10
ahhh tomorrow, we get to the meat we've been waiting for. What you think of what we did while you were on vacation. Ha! This is going to be good. On congrats on your job. I swear, you are the luckiest dude I know. I wish I could hook up with some old friend and end up as the CEO of the hospital I currently work for. :-) I have to say I can't imagine a lower cost of living than south Alabama. I might have to move to Knoxville myself. Especially if it's cooler there. I'm going to go take that test and have my hubby take it, too. We are always up for a new place!
-------------------------------
Kelly - 2004-08-04 10:06:06
just did the quiz...my top three were Knoxville TN, Clarksville TN (which is an adorable place), and Tulsa, OK (ACK!).
-------------------------------
Marcia - 2004-08-04 10:23:30
Bob, you should REALLY get a lawyer to look over the paperwork that is being drawn up. Not that I'm saying your buddy is cheating you, but nearly every day at work I see cases like this where one party isn't crystal clear on what is happening and assumes they have rights that they don't. Spending a few $$$ on some (not prepaid) legal now can save you $$$$$$$$$$$$ and time on the other end.
-------------------------------
Schecki - 2004-08-04 10:23:54
HRT, we are soooo busted.

My top three are Baltimore, MD; Portland, OR; and New Haven, CT. Hmm... never ever considered the east coast.
-------------------------------
Andy - 2004-08-04 10:39:40
That is an excellent point Marcia.
-------------------------------
stella - 2004-08-04 10:54:02
My top spots were Baltimore (where I used to live), Norfolk VA, Charlotte, NC (where I currently reside) and Richmond VA (where I go to school). Damn, I was really hoping for something more north or west.
-------------------------------
HRT - 2004-08-04 11:19:19
Stella, you say that, like they're going to check your score on that quiz before you sign a lease anywhere else.

I have a good title for UB's next post:

Fahrenheit 811: The temperature where Diaryland burns.

hotcarl - 2004-08-04 11:36:39
Wow, I did the little top spot thing and numbers 2, 4, and 6 are basically where I live now. I rule!! Anyone wanna touch the man who is already living in the best place for him? Come on, just a little touch? Please?

connex - 2004-08-04 11:55:41
The suspense of it all. Things just get curiouser and curiouser!!!

Jinxie - 2004-08-04 12:05:45
Yay!! Congratulations Uncle Bob!! I hope everything goes well with the new partnership, and that Susie doesn't flake out on the move!! And thanks for the tip on Find Your Spot...I've decided to go on to Grad School, and am having a hard time figuring out where to apply...this might help.

Big tony - 2004-08-04 12:28:04
"Howyadoin'? I'm Uncle Bob. I sell these here alarms, see? I *really* think youse guys should invest in dees tings. You know? I'm a-telling-you, it's a frigin shame. YOu know dat the da last 4 shops I went into they didn't buy one of these and guess what? There shop was broken into that very night. It's a damn shame. I *really* think youse should consider my fine products. How many can I put youse done for?

RED FLAG! "A buddy of mine that I hadn't seen much recently called me last Friday." "he's bought two franchises ...without telling me." "What're you doing these days?" he said "...MAKE ME A PARTNER ... WITH ME CONTRIBUTING NO MONEY!" If you saw this on an infomercial you would probably turn the channel. Check your liability if the franchises tank or your friend decides to bail. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Be careful being a business partner, UB. If the business goes in debt YOUR name is on the paperwork too, and YOU'LL have to help pay it off. My brother screwed over his friend in this way, and now his friend owes $56,000 because his name was on the paperwork. Needless to say, they're not friends anymore.
-------------------------------
Charle - 2004-08-04 14:40:49
I kinda got the impression that this "Business" was merely fully comissioned sales people for the distributer....kinda like an Avon.

Is "Fat Eddie" related to Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force?

I lived in Seymour (South Knoxville) for 13 years, and have missed it every day since I moved. It's just a beautiful small town and the school system is fantastic. If you do decide to move there, you should look at Seymour instead of Knoxville (it's only about 15 minutes outside). :D Good luck!
-------------------------------
becca again - 2004-08-04 17:23:43
Haha - on the findyourspot quiz, it named Knoxville as my #1. How weird.
-------------------------------
cosmicrayola - 2004-08-04 18:27:44
Haha. I was borh in Maine, though I'm now in RI. My top two cities were both in Maine and the next two were in New Hampshire. Maybe I just should have stayed there.
-------------------------------
Katherine - 2004-08-04 18:44:58
I almost quit that quiz when it said "so far your city of choice is Corn City, Iowa" Anything with corn and Iowa in it gives me the heebies. But my final choices were two places in Oregon and that's cool. Too bad I can't live in the US...I'm a Canuck where the housing prices in urban centers require you to have earnings on a par with Bill Gates.
-------------------------------
nautile - 2004-08-04 19:11:05
But why in the world would you wanna leave Alabama?? We've got, umm, a really big statue and uh, humidity . . . wait, take me with you!

Good luck with that new job thing; very amusing.

Hhmm... well actually I was just in Greenville, SC over the weekend and look forward to moving there one day. Just for curiosity, why don't you want to move there? Welcome back.
-------------------------------
Genghis Jon - 2004-08-05 22:38:51
Hey! I might be moving to Tennesse too! The good news is the housing costs are sure to go down with me there.

ScottyP - 2004-08-06 20:35:45
Should I be frightened that my #4 place was Johnstown, PA???
