I hope your homeowner's insurance covers the price of a new pair of sunglasses for Andrew. Bummer, man.

Bless you and your pictoral representation of evil. I love it.

Whoa! That's devastating! Twenty- or thirty-ish miles away, in our neighborhood, there is one young sappling now sitting at a 75-degree angle. It's horrifying!

I pray for you and yours. Would any one of you care to donate to the Uncle Bob Relief Fund? I'm sure he'll take food, but your money is all he really wants.

"Still, today, clouds are moving across the sky like dead fish floating downstream of a polluted creek full of used condoms and empty beer bottles." That's one impressive metaphor, UB. Or whatever term it is that you use about writing like that. Don't blame me, I'm Norwegian.

I just wanted to drop a note thanking you for exposing me to 'Wilco'.

I blame Norwegians for everything.

Danielley - 2004-09-07 13:02:32
Tell me about it, UB. As a resident of Florida, the most damage done to my house was...gasp...the mail box was open.

DAMN FUNNY DIARY, SIR. I can almost smell the dead fish and used condoms. Be strong as the storm brings you close to the end of your days; tell your family you love them, find a comfortable ditch, and streak naked through the neighborhood because you know you've always wanted to.

Will the damage never end? These stories are making me shudder. This morning I opened my curtains to take in the devastation in Atlanta, and was face to face with a LEAF stuck to my WINDOW. It was really, really wet, too, and was a shade of green that can only mean one thing, y'all: It did not fall from the tree on its own accord. No, it must have been RIPPED from the limb with a force that I can't even fathom to make it stick to glass like that. Strap in everyone, because another hurricane is on its way!!! (I can certainly understand why the weather announcers in parts of FL were loosening up their ties and preparing their most Emmy-worthy speeches - seeing as how they actually had something to be concerned about, but it seems like Atlanta always has to jump on the bandwagon and act like no one knows suffering like a Georgian whose power might have flickered during the night.)

BigPimpinMBA told me that you stole my entry, and he was right!

So sorry about Andrew's glasses. I'm going to change my Red Cross link to a link for the Andrew Sunglasses repair fund!

I weep for you.

How sad is it that I actually shook my head from side to side to simulate the effect of fast-moving clouds? Yeesh.

We currently have a tree through our front window. Maybe you'll be lucky like us UB and get a lame pine tree to accessorize your carpeting and couches, too.

Ah..I'm just passing through...read your posting. Hey...I'm going to be,... well I'm a bit older. I could use an uncle. Would you adopt me? I'll stop back later for your answer. *smile* Hmm as far as Hurricane Frances. My condo is down in West Palm Beach, on Singer Island. I'm suppose to be there Dec 4th. They evacuated everyone on the 4th. Hope there is something left of the place come December. BBL. Hope you don't see anything of Ivan coming up from the Dominican Republic.

I agree as a resident of south florida, the most damage done was just lots of trees keeling over. But there were some areas that got really bad so while yes, it was overstressed there were lots of people hit hard by it. I was out in the weather though every chance I could taking pics and making sure my car didnt get smashed. It was fun.

scummy, that's funny, because we blame Americans for everything. It's just a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing you're American?

scummy - 2004-09-08 15:05:15
hah, I am American!

OMG!!! Uncle Bob and I have the same patio furniture! However, where I live (in the exact opposite corner of the continental USofA you can get from Florida) I have proof that the heavy glass topped table will flip over in an 80MPH gust, 'cuz mine did last year in the annual windstorm. Didn't break the hefty glass, but it did break about half the puny plastic brackets that hold said hefty glass in place when right-side-round.

Wow, that took some real psychic power to unveil, scummy. You made my day!

1) My head hurts now because I actualy shook my head while looking at the clouds, and yes, they moved. Does this make me stupid? 2) You have good taste in music. And thanks for spewing on about Wilco - I adore them now.
