If I were going to spend $500 on a vacuum, I would buy a Dyson. I wonder if that guy sneaks into homes with Hoover Wind Tunnels and breaks them on purpose just so he can sell the homeowners on his Fancy German Import?

I did a lot of research and came up that Miele was the best. I was going to buy a Miele...yea, I wear the skirt in my house....but it never came to be. sniff. Actually, I said "fuck it" and hired a lady to come and vacuum for me. IF you wanna sell you miele let me know...

Due, the Hoover Wind Tunnel sucks worse than Liberace at a Gay Pianists Convention. Ask me, I know. I'm a gay pianist AND a Hoover Wind Tunnel Owner.

Damn, I'm glad we aren't the only schmucks who have been sucked (heh)into the evil vacuum world. We got bamboozled into buying our Super Sucker for at least a year's salary, maybe more. I think all vacuum salesmen must go to hypnotist school. Bastards!!

Miele is a pretty awesome company in my experience. My parents bought a Miele dishwasher for about $1,000, and we all thought they were crazy, crazy, crazy! But it's insanely quiet. (You think you're going crazy when you can't hear the dishwasher running and you SWEAR you turned it on.) It cleans amazingly well. And it's not broke yet...after 5 years, anyway. Plus, my husband is in the cleaning business, and the only vacuums he recommends are Dirt Devil Royals, but he wants a Dyson REAL bad, so I think I could convince him to get a Miele. Happy cleaning!

Here's a question for you: If the Meil breaks, how much will it cost to fix? I have a funny feeling that it will have to be shipped back to Germany to be repaired. There's another arm and leg to be removed from your body. Oh wait, I'll be he told you it would never need repairs too, didn't he? Can I sell you some ice?

ALL vacuum cleaners suck! Wait...

pinkytusk - 2005-01-25 11:08:45
I had the same vacuum experience.. and guess what! I have a Miele too!! One thing I learned in the process though is that there are a handful of models. They start at about $300 and go to over $1000.. Well.. They ALL have the same engine and sucking power. The price goes up with the bells and whistles. You don't end up getting more power. But! I know you will like your Miele Bob.. It's a great vacuum and when I use mine I feel so cool and vacuumfasionalble! lol...

Did you get the Jenna Jameson latex lips attatchment for the Miele too, UB? It's a great accesory.

You people spend way too much time thinking about vacuum cleaners!

grassyknoll - 2005-01-25 18:22:33
I'm perfectly happy with my Simplicity vacuum. My main concern is pet hair for its maddening Velcro properties, and they work like magic on that. Any other vacuumable substance comes second. And it came with a 3-year warranty. And I did NOT pay even remotely close to $500 for it. At least you didn't buy a Fantom though. Gawd, whatta waste of plastic. Good learning experience though.

Wow! $500.00! Flashback - P.T. Barnum. "There's a sucker born every minute!" Of course I'm talking about the Vacuum, not you, UB! (sure, I'm not) I'll stick with my Oreck. With that, I even got a car vac and an Iron!

We all do stupid things UB... I had an old 2nd hand Miele that cost me $20 and worked like a toothless crack whore needing 5 bucks for a fix.... fabulous.... Then moved to a new house and HAD to get a new vacuum because OLD 2ND HAND WASN'T BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH WAS IT??? Threw it out, spent hundreds on a new electrolux, and, well, you know the rest...

Vacuum belts cost pennies and aren't that difficult to change out. All you need is a screwdriver and a tid bit of patience. I have three dogs and two cats, so I went out last summer and dropped 5 C-notes on a Dyson Animal.I swear, the thing sucks the dirt from under the house. Best vacuum I've ever owned and Dyson also makes a washing machine but it hasn't made it across the Atlantic yet.

I had a vacuum repair man try the same thing with me when I needed the on/off switch replaced on my old Fantom. No dice. My husband ended up replacing it himself with a part from Lowes. I'll use it until it blows up. I had a salesman come in and demonstrate a Kirby once. I refused repeatedly until he dropped the price to $1500. Ha. No dice on that, either. I'm getting a Dyson next time. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Steven Anderson is the name of the President of the National Restaurant Association. He used to be my boss. I got a Roomba for Christmas. I hate vaccuuming, so my parents got it for me so that I wouldn't have to anymore. I just haven't assembled it yet.

westburian - 2005-02-09 18:45:32
Silly me.... I just wait till someone throws out a vacuum cleaner to the curb, take it home and replace usually either (a) a belt or (b) a switch or (c) the power cord or plug. Of course when I get enough of them I take them to the pawn shop and get a few extra bucks for them. These same people usually throw out perfectly good lawnmowers too....
