Just today I thought of that picture of her license plate you posted some time back. I couldn't remember her name so I just went back about my business. All in less time than it took to write this. And I bet that sometimes you don't think you make a change in people's lives.

UB, your comment regarding Andrew (the owner of D-Land, not your son) made me wonder if you are ever in any contact with him. Or any of the muckity-mucks of D-Land. I've had my Diaryland site for almost 5 years and the first few years customer service was great, but for over two years Andrew (or whoever is in charge) refuses to answer any of my e-mails, tech requests, ANYTHING. It's pretty frustrating but there's nothing I can do about it. Oh well, you just reminded me of it and I wondered if I could bribe you to put in a good word for me. Thanks.

Jew here. Ummm... no, I don't really mind getting a Christmas card, unless it is an attempt to tell me to accept Christ as my lord and saviour or else I'm going to aitch ee double toothpicks. Then, I kinda think it's stewpid. Glad you're back, Bobbie. Thanks for asking!

What are kids for if you can't spoil them? You go UB! As for the audio clip, I had to keep turning my speakers down in increments. Finally, (thank God) the very end was just a whisper. Wow, how embarrassed do you think he is knowing that is out in cyberspace?

Honorary Jew here, and shoshi's right. Jew's don't mind the xmas cards, except the super-religious ones that say, "Join me in the celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ's birthday, the savior of all man, the one true god, the one who will save you from burning in hell for all eternity, (you godless heathen)." Even then, my ex used to shrug and say, "Pretty picture," before he tossed it in the trash.

My husband literally got into a shoving match with another dad at Toys R Us over Mater. My husband took the last Mater from the hook, and this other guy's wife told my man that THEY were going to buy that. Things got ugly from there. Why didn't we just order them online? Good news, though--we got the Mater!

'Nother Jew here. I give my friends Chanukah presents, they give me Christmas presents. Works out fine. And Shoshi, Jane: Lucky there's no hell if you're Jewish...

Doc - 2006-12-21 09:18:28
Jew here: Christmas cards can go either way. Usually when asking "Is it appropriate?" The rule of thumb is; "Depends. Are you including a check?"

Actually, I'm not offended that others are thinking about me when they are celebrating.

Anyhow, merry christmas you big fat bastard.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Something was missing, Ohio State cornerback Donald Washington said. And it's something that has to be found, and soon. As Illinois continued to run the ball, making just enough yardage on third down time after time to continue piling up first downs, the Buckeyes grew more and more dispirited. How was this possible, for Illinois to pile up 260 rushing yards against a team that was only giving up 65 a game? How did Juice Williams, previously known as a guy defenses loved to force into passing situations, pass for four touchdowns in what would be the top ranked Buckeyes' 28 21 undoing last Saturday? Against a team that had given up only five passing TDs in its first 10 games? "It was something we lacked from the beginning of the game," Washington said. "I don't really know exactly what...

The Bhola Cyclone was a category 3 storm. Cyclone Sidr, now bearing down on the Bangladesh coast, is probably a Category 5 storm, possibly a strong Category 5. The population of Bangladesh has approximately doubled since 1970. This could potentially add up to a potentially very serious disaster. However, the latest word from Chris Mooney is that the storm is doing most of its damage to a mangrove swamp area. Keep in mind also that this area is the home of the rare Bengal tiger. There is this on CNN. The current sattelite view: The current satellite view: The hurricane is heading for a mangrove swamp area that is roughly 150 to 200 km "deep" (south to north). Much of the mangrove coast is heavily populated, but this particular area less so. But the bad news is that this is also a...

Mondays and Tuesdays continue to be the busiest online shopping days during the holiday season, and prime online transaction hours occur between noon and 4 p.m. EST. "For the past seven years, we have seen the continued integration between online and offline buying behavior," Song said. "The role online advertising has on offline sales is never more obvious than during the offline rush." For this year's report, the Atlas Institute analyzed transaction data from Nov. 20, 2006, through Jan. 31, 2007. The data represents 670 billion impressions and 193 million actions across more than 180 companies whose online campaigns are managed by using the Atlas Digital Marketing Suite. The measure of activity is via an index where a value of 100 indicates a day that had average online shopping activity for the six month period from September 2006 through...

I think Tony Stewart being upset at Paul Menard is the first round of this Toyota versus Chevrolet Rivalry. DEI has inheirited The Cadillac Man Bobby Ginn's Cars and 2 of his former Crew Chiefs and Sterling Marlin still don't have jobs for 2008. I think DEI is a total joke without Dale Earnhardt,Jr. Around and if Dale Earnhardt where here, he would want enough people to stay focused on this NASCAR Thing rather than look like total soundbites. I am convinced Toyota will beat Chevrolet and Chevrolet will not have any kind of comeback to beat Toyota because I am still angry at General Motors for cutting my Pontiac NASCAR Program because what that...

It said its dredging unit DEME continues to perform well with an order book at a record level of 1.846 bln eur, partly as a result of new projects in (amongst others) Germany, Spain, Russia, Tunisia, Venezuela, Australia, Libya, Nigeria and the Emirates. DEME confirms is confident that it will be able to continue the trend of the first half of 2007 over the whole year, as well as further increase its order book following the assignment of important new projects. AvH's real estate company Extensa showed 'a further positive evolution', which should lead to the realisation of (portfolio) capital gains in the fourth quarter, the group says. In further real estate activities, Leasinvest real estate also achieved growth boosted by capital gains from the sale of a building in Luxembourg and further positive fair value fluctuations of the real estate portfolio. Turning to its private equity portfolio, AvH says the sale of Corn Van Loocke...

Willow on leather, commentaries on the radio, backyard test matches and as regular as clockwork the annual outcry over the failure of cricket authorities to fully embrace technology. I know, it's a seasonal debate but here we are again, just a fortnight into the southern hemisphere's international programme and already the first four tests (involving the Australia Sri Lanka and South Africa New Zealand series) have been blighted by a stream of umpiring mistakes some potentially match deciding. Arguably the biggest came from South African Rudi Koertzen during the final innings of the second test at Bellerive last week, when he incorrectly deduced that a delivery from Stuart Clark had brushed the glove of Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara, and proceeded to send him packing for 192. Considering Sangakkara's appetite for dining out...

First determine why and if you need a credit card. Then shop around for other forms of credit or payment. Consider whether a debit card or some other form of doing transactions might meet your needs and be much cheaper. (But watch out for expensive ``overdraft protection.'') Don't fall for marketers' promises of ''glamour'' or easy loans. If you have bad credit, you will almost certainly pay a high price for any unsecured loan. Look carefully at the interest rates, fees and penalty provisions of an offered card, and if you don't understand them, walk away. Also, remember that the issuer can change any of the terms on very short notice. There is no free lunch! If your goal is to repair your credit, you must be patient....

But he's still suffering from an acute case of Conservative Hockey Philosophy. Get a load of this not so subtle dig: "The shootout will always be a novelty in our game," Maurice said recently. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This game needs some novelty, Paul. It also needs a practical, guaranteed manner by which to finish games during the regular season. (No, unlimited overtime doesn't count, and yes, ties still stink.) And it needs as many aspects of the game to show up on highlight reels across the continent as possible. The shootout delivers on every one of those counts. Novelty, schmovelty. Continued good health...

Benitez reportedly is feuding with Gillett and Tom Hicks over how much money the coach can spend on new signings during January's transfer window. Gillett and Hicks, owner of the NHL's Dallas Stars and baseball's Texas Rangers, bought Liverpool in March. "They don't understand what the transfer window means in Europe," Benitez said after Liverpool won 3 0 at Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday. "They need to understand how difficult it is to sign players. "I was trying to explain, now we try to keep focus and win games. If they understand what the market means they will understand we are trying to do the best for the club." European soccer teams can trade players only during transfer periods in January and the off season in July and August. They released a statement Thursday asking Benitez...

Now, the tribal customs of Manneh and other West African immigrants have become the focus of an unusual criminal case charging her with meat smuggling, and touching on issues of religious freedom, infectious diseases and wildlife preservation. The case "appears to be the first of its kind relating to that uniquely African product," defense attorney Jan Rostal wrote in a pending motion to dismiss. "Unfortunately, it represents the sort of clash of cultural and religious values inherent in the melting pot that is America." At the center of the case in federal court is a modest woman with nine children and a history of domestic discord. The case dates to early 2006, when federal inspectors at JFK Airport examined a shipment of 12 cardboard boxes from Guinea. They were...

Now on the downslope of the Bush administration, Rice is gambling that she can succeed where past diplomats have failed as she works to restart Mideast peace talks after a nearly seven year lull. Rice is playing host next week to a conference meant to commit Israel and the Palestinians to intensive negotiations toward establishing an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. It's the administration's most visible intercession in a conflict that Rice and other advisers had given little energy and attention for most of Bush's nearly seven years in office. It's also an effort that invites comparisons of Rice's diplomatic skills with those of past statesmen who, late in their terms, sought a solution to the decades long problem as a potential crowning achievement. Mideast peace is a sort...

But the large men on the boat we use to cross to the other island get intense on the role of the Queen in the Commonwealth. One thought that she shouldn't have been its head, for it would constantly remind the former colonies of the dark, exploitative and shameful days of colonialism.
